Volunteer
Thanks so much for your interest in volunteering with BFF! We care for many, many cats and kittens daily, so we need volunteers to keep us running consistently and to provide the best care possible. Here are some ways you can help us out:
Feeders and trappers!
Our biggest needs are for feeders and trappers. For the most part, feeders & trappers need to have a car. While everyone else is asleep, feeders are on the streets where feral colonies gather, homeless cats roam, and sick and injured cats suffer. They provide the most important elements of survival: food and water. For truly feral cats, trappers go around Boston, trapping cats and bringing them to the vet to treat medical issues and injuries, and for TNR. Interested in becoming a feeder or a trapper? Fosters wanted!
We are in need of fosters. Fosters help socialize cats and kittens so that they are more comfortable with humans once they become available for adoption. Foster homes require a spare room! Learn more about fostering on our Foster page.
Don’t have a car or spare room? Other ways you can help:
- Make a monetary donation. All money goes to help provide food, medical care, and a safe shelter for our kitties!
- Donate cat food or hold a cat food drive to help feed all of our cats on the streets & in foster homes. Please contact us here, and we’ll give you an address for drop-off. We will even accept that open bag of dry food your cat now refuses to eat.
- Does your cat prefer the box it came in? Donate anything your cat refuses to use (clean and in good condition, please!).
- Donate something from our wishlists: Amazon, Chewy, Walmart.
- Donate to the monthly BFF auction. We accept any and all donations: crafts, gift cards, gifts you don’t want, or any item you find during your spring cleaning. Contact us here if you are interested.
- Participate in the monthly BFF auction on Facebook or Zeffy to raise money for cat food and vet visits. Current and upcoming auction dates.
- Participate in BFF’s Cat and Crafts Fundraiser by crafting for the monthly online auctions. More details under ongoing events.
- Participate in BFF’s Share the Warmth Fundraiser by knitting or crocheting hats. More details under ongoing events.
- Share our social media posts of kitties looking for forever or foster homes.
- Talk us up to your friends and family who may want to feed, foster, or are looking to adopt.
- Host a fundraiser to benefit BFF. Make your own soaps, candles, or crafts? Sell LulaRoe or Pampered Chef? All ideas are welcome.
